Erick Ward
Attorney
Erick was born and raised in the high desert of Southern Idaho and loves Bend because it feels like home. Erick found his calling at a young age when an astute lawyer helped a family member out of a frightening legal problem. In high school, Erick developed his future courtroom skills on the declamation (competitive speaking) team, where he won every major state competition and two Idaho State championships in three years.
Education
After graduating with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Erick attended Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. During his time in Portland, he honed his courtroom skills and earned an excellent trial record as a Certified Legal Intern with Metropolitan Public Defender Services, Inc. Upon graduating from law school in 2000, Erick and his wife moved to Santa Monica, California, where he started a private criminal defense practice. Over the next eight years, Erick successfully defended progressively bigger, more complex, and higher-profile cases. He has learned a lot about winning jury trials but has always found his most rewarding work outside the courtroom. Helping people with compassion and dedication has always been his primary objective.

After a few visits to Bend, Erick and his family decided to return to Oregon to enjoy the outdoors and be closer to family. In 2011, Erick teamed up with his law school friend, Todd Grover, to found Ward Grover, a criminal defense firm exclusively dedicated to fighting injustice and defending the rights of the accused.
Erick is happily married and the proud father of two young sons. He enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking, traveling, a good crossword puzzle and, most of all, spending time outdoors with his family.
Erick is admitted to the state and federal courts in Oregon, Idaho and California, though he is currently only active in Oregon. He is a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.
